One of my favorite sayings from Despair.com (a company which sells de-motivational posters) is PROCRASTINATION : Hard work often pays off after time, but laziness always pays off now.
And in the case of blueberry picking, this turned out to be true. We had been putting off returning to the pick your own blueberry farm until it was cooler (not a great plan for NC in the summer) and yesterday evening seemed like a pretty decent time to go except for one thing – they were closed for the season.
Luckily the owner called back to let me know that they still had fresh frozen berries available. We took her up on the offer and purchased 10 lbs of pre-frozen blueberries. Very local and very lazy!
We were also able to purchase some blueberry jam from Blueberry Hill and honey from Wagner Brothers Apiaries, also in Sanford. While I’m not a honey fan (perhaps negative associations with bees), Patrick loves it, especially on his oatmeal.
By the way, the pesto was yummy (maybe a bit garlicky, but tasty nonetheless). A special bonus photo: Pasta making – don’t you love the nail polish?
